A day of travelling from Switzerland through the vineyards of Burgundy to the most visited city of Europe - The City of Lights, Paris. It was the longest road trip we had and almost 13hrs inside the coach is no joke. But of course, our tour guide was there to entertain us. We watched Hachi, a Dog's Tale and 200 Pounds Beauty. I didn't notice how time flies because I was busy watching.
We first stop at Colmar in France. Colmar is a little town in Alsace region of France close to the German border. It is the hometown of Frederick Bartholdi, the designer of the Statue of Liberty. As we walk around, we saw a statue of Bartholdi holding a mini Statue of Liberty in one of the crossroad .
The Maison des Tetes (House of Heads) was built in 1609 in the style of
the German Renaissance. It gets its name from all of the different
faces adorning its walls, windows, and pillars. Unlike other medieval houses/Gothic architectures I have seen, the houses in Colmar has its own beauty to show. I am amazed on the unique style of the old houses in this Old Town.
The quaint houses framed in dark timber is like the Disney's Beauty and the Beast setting.
The colorful flowers in the window sills, the overlapping house type and shops is enough to make visitors feel they are inside a theme park. Our half day tour inside The Old Town was truly a new experience for me. We took a rest and sat down, sipped a cup of coffee on the little cafe along the street. I guess this is the kind of lifestyle anyone can wish for, not having to rush around to get things done.
